SWISS ORGANIC LEATHER

"To better declare Swiss leather, we have launched the label 'SWISS ORGANIC LEATHER'."

"Our goal is to promote and preserve Swiss leather production. The label states that the leather used is 100% of Swiss origin."

"Skins from small animals are usually disposed of as waste in Switzerland. We want to advocate for this valuable raw material to gain attention again. Goat leather, for example, is very light and durable. Due to the almost square shape of the skin, there is hardly any waste, and it is ideally suited for small products like our wallets and cases."

ORIGIN

The leather of our products comes 100% from Switzerland. We source it from one of the last tanneries in Switzerland that processes leather ecologically (without chrome) and specializes in small animal hides. Since the beginning of our collaboration, we have also been in contact with farmers ourselves and bring the hides you provide for further processing to the tannery.

Currently, we are working directly with the following farmers:

TANNING

The leather for our CANARD "SWISS LEATHER" products is vegetable-tanned in one of the last Swiss tanneries in the Emmental. For vegetable tanning, a powder made from plant parts, including tree bark extract, is used instead of chrome. This natural process is more labor-intensive, but it is environmentally friendly and meets our commitment to produce swiss made.

DYEING Our leather is also dyed in the Emmental. It is the last tannery in Switzerland that still processes leather itself. The leather is dyed and greased in a post-tanning process. The greasing ensures that the leather becomes supple. In the end, the leather is given a light finish, which prevents the color from fading, and also results in a firm surface of the leather.
